Buffalo State College Women's Basketball Camps
My name is Marybeth Nugent (Coach MB) and I am the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Buffalo State College. Here is a little information about me.
Prior to being named the head coach at Buffalo State, I played at Daemen College for 4 years. After college, I started coaching young girls in AAU which then led to becoming the Head JV Coach at Williamsville South high school. After (November 2014 - March 2015) I was offered the assistant coach position at Buffalo State which after three years turned into the Head Coaching Job.
WHY I COACH:
Coaching young athletes gives me the opportunity to affect so many lives in a positive way. I love the sport of basketball! I know what basketball did for me growing up and I want my players to experience all the good that I gained from the sport. The fact that I can make such a difference doing something I love is an opportunity of a lifetime.
I am a Coach because of my passion for my work. I try to mold my players into respectful, hardworking, and grateful individuals. I hold them accountable to their actions, so they can handle responsibility on their own. Communication is very important, and I tell my players how important it is and it’s not so much what you say but how you say it. Most important I tell them to have fun and love what they do. If you don’t love it then what’s the point in doing it. We should all love what we do in life.
